Little Britain Down Under: Vicky Pollard meets Harold Bishop
Matt Lucas and David Walliams take their comic creations and catchphrases on tour in Australia — find out how they’re received in this one-off special on BT Vision now.
The BAFTA-winning Little Britain, which first aired in September 2003, has carved a niche in our hearts with its borderline poor-taste humour.
According to the Guardian, the show “proved that gags based around incontinence and projectile vomiting are no barrier to popular acclaim.”
This fly-on-the-wall special follows Lucas and Walliams as they tour Australia and introduce their unique brand of humour to the locals — and ascertains whether the formula can prove successful Down Under.
And of course it features some fresh material from familiar characters.
In-between live shows, Lucas and Walliams mingle with the cream of the Australian entertainment circuit.
Vicky Pollard runs through Ramsay Street, and there are some rather more civilised meetings with Dame Edna Everage and comedy pair Kath and Kim.
Lou and Andy also manage to secure a cameo on Neighbours — joining a select club that also includes Sinitta, Emma Bunton, Julian Clary and Michael Parkinson.
Little Britain Down Under is a chance to catch up with your favourite characters and see some welcome new material.
“The sketches are silly and smutty, but if you’re a fan of the show, you’ll love them,” said the Daily Express.
“It looks like Aussies enjoy bad-taste humour, too.”
