There’s a theory that if you stacked the LA Lakers squad on top of each other they would reach the moon. That may or may not be true, but Kobe Bryant and co will definitely be walking tall after being crowned 2009/10 hoop kings.
The phenomenal west coast outfit narrowly disposed of the Boston Celtics 83-79 in the seventh game of the NBA finals to clinch a series that nearly slipped from their grasp.
The Lakers might well fancy themselves to retain the title again this year, but bookmakers have the Miami Heat installed as early favourites for that crown. This follows basketball superstar LeBron James’ decision to head south to the Sunshine State.
And there are plenty of other strong sides hoping to be in the mix when the trophy is handed out next summer such as Miami’s Florida neighbours the Orlando Magic, the Chicago Bulls, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks.
