FOR FANS of spandex, suplexes and deep tans, it doesn’t get any bigger than TNA’s Bound for Glory 2012. To get the lowdown on this orgy of violence we spoke to Chavo Guerrero, who hopes to body-slam his way to the TNA World Tag Team Championship with Shawn Hernandez on 14 October.

To whet your appetite for the big event, check out what happened last year and have a gander at all the TNA gold available on BT Vision on demand.

Hi Chavo, thanks for talking to BT Vision. Guerrero is Spanish for warrior, is that where all the aggression comes from?
Yeah, we’re real Guerreros, that’s not a stage name. You go down to Mexico and you’ll see a lot of Guerreros, but it’s not their real name, just part of their character. We’re true warriors.

You grew up in a wrestling family – were you grappling before you could walk?
Oh yeah, we had a ring in the backyard: we fought on it, slept under it. Me and my uncle Eddie would fight there. He was a few years older than me so he would win – at first.

You’ve been a good guy and a bad guy in your career: which do you prefer?
When you’re a good guy, you get everyone shouting for you. I prefer to have everyone hating on me and a few nice guys in the front row encouraging me. Then I turn on them and get them to hate me too. I love to be the bad guy.

You’ve been a pro wrestler since 1994 – who’s the toughest rival you’ve faced?
That’s difficult. I would probably go for Kurt Angle (left). He’s so strong and so fast, that’s why I call him the machine – he’s a breed above. Misterioso would be up there as well, but there are so many different great opponents.

If you could wrestle any historical figure, who would you choose?
Outside of wrestling, maybe Jennifer Beals [star of the 1983 film Flashdance]. That would be some hot-oil wrestling, only available on pay-per-view.

If you had to choose, would you prefer to have a beak for a nose or feathers instead of fingers?
I think I’d go for the feathers, that way I might be able to fly.

Finally, have you got a message for your Bound for Glory opponents, Chris Daniels and Kazarian?
They should lace up their boots and get ready, because we’re taking that title. That’s not a threat – it’s a promise.
