Like a lovingly oiled and shiny piece of high-tech engineering, German football purrs with breathtaking efficiency and is pretty enough to make grown men go weak at the knees. So, prepare to be blown away by the Bundesliga and German Cup on ESPN.

Germany’s thoroughbred World Cup performance and several seasons of strong performance in the Champions League have showcased the quality of the game in the Federal Republic.

But star-studded Bavarian outfit Bayern Munich, which boasts Franck Ribery, Dutch master Arjen Robben and hot-shot striker Mario Gomez, won’t be downing champagne at the end of this season because Borussia Dortmund have already wrapped up the league.

The only prize left is the German DFB Pokal Cup, in which Schalke will be hoping to bounce back from a poor Bundesliga season and their Champions League exit. For Bayern it’s back to the drawing board.
