Reds target Reebok raid

Despite ending last season with serious designs on the Premier League title, Liverpool have failed to get going this campaign with two defeats in three matches. A morale-boosting win at the Reebok would certainly help things. Watch them take on Bolton on Vision Sport on 29 August.

Last term, the Reds picked up maximum points against their closest rivals, United and Chelsea, but failed to beat teams like Hull, Stoke, Wigan and Middlesbrough, which ultimately cost them the title. Bolton are making steady progress under Gary Megson and their combative style makes them the sort of team capable of causing Rafa Benitez’s men problems.

Given Liverpool’s miserable start to the season the Trotters will be hoping for another off day from the talented Anfield stars. But the Reds desperately need the win so you’d expect to see Steven Gerrard and co coming away from this one with all three points.

One to watch: Kevin Davies

If there’s one man who can get among the Liverpool defence, it’s Kevin Davies. The burly forward loves nothing better than a physical game, and Jamie Carragher will no doubt have to engage in a few aerial battles to thwart him at the Reebok.

The magic number: 2

Liverpool won 2-0 in last season’s game at the Reebok – Kuyt and Gerrard were the goal scorers.
