In the full version of our On Vision magazine exclusive, teen superstar Miley Cyrus talks about being Hannah, saving pennies and the perfect French fries.
When I want… to do what other kids do
“I love playing guitar and just hanging out at my house, swimming. I play baseball a lot. My dad was a baseball coach so every once in a while he’ll go out there and just throw a ball for me and I’ve gotten really good. That’s what I really like to do.”
When I want… a little eye candy
“I don’t really get crushes on famous people. I’m surrounded by good-looking guys, the models and actors from the videos, so it ends up not being about looks. It ends up being about the personality and the way someone treats you.”
When I want… to misbehave
“When my parents think I’m getting out of line, when I’m talking back a bit, they’ll censor me. I think I’m really trustworthy. My parents are chilled with me until I give them a reason not to be, so hopefully I’ll never give them a reason. My dad’s very trusting. So that’s sweet. But I still get told off.”
When I want… to pig out
“I’m addicted to the food here in the UK. You guys have much better French fries than we have in the US. They’re cooked different.”
When I want to… be Miley Cyrus
“I prefer performing as Miley to Hannah Montana. You can move around more and not feel so constrained. I know that at some point I will have to stop being Hannah. I’ll have to some day but it’s not going to be anytime soon.”
When I want… to feel independent
“I think of my sister. She lived at home until she went to college at 18 and she says, ‘Oh, I wish I’d stayed at home a little longer.’ My brother’s 19 and he’s still at home so I think I want to stay until 20 or 21. Or until my mum stops cooking for me.”
When I want… to splurge some money
“I just don’t, because then I would be broke. I wouldn’t have anything left to support my family and that’s what I want to do. When I get older and maybe my parents want to settle down, I want to be able to take care of them.”
When I want… to do the right thing
“More than anything I want to influence people on the subject of the environment. I feel like it’s a concept that often gets overlooked so I’d like to get people to do little things like turn the tap off while you’re brushing your teeth or turn the lights off when you leave a room. It’s so easy! That’s what I want to do. Show people how easy it is to take care of the environment. You don’t have to change the way you live, just the little things.”
When I want… to think about doing something outside showbusiness
“I got to work with an amazing photographer, Annie Leibovitz on Vanity Fair. And that’s what I want to do with my life. I would love to be a photographer. I actually want to come to London to study photography. I hear there are some really great art schools there so I would love to do that.”
