Forgetting Sarah Marshall: watch it on BT Vision now

Watch now for £3.37

Forgetting Sarah Marshall on Vision FILM“Members of the Knocked Up/Superbad crew reunite here for another irreverent comedy in the comely shape of Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” wrote BBC Films of America’s latest goofy romcom.

“It’s a witty laughfest, and the heavy sobbing fits can’t fail to entertain.”

Jason Segel plays broken-hearted Peter Bretter, who goes on holiday to Hawaii in order to get over a nasty break-up with his TV star girlfriend (played by Kristen Bell).

But he finds that Sarah has also travelled to the same resort, and that she is bringing along her new boyfriend – played by the UK’s most contentious comic, Russell Brand.

“There are a surfeit of jokes here but rather a little too much emphasis on self-help which, as you can imagine, is not nearly as enjoyable to sit through as a surfeit of jokes might have been,” wrote Premiere magazine.

“Maybe the filmmakers want to prove their hearts are in the right place? They needn’t have. Its characters are all plausible and sweet-natured enough.”

Though a lot of the movie requires tears from Jason Segel, there is light at the end of the tunnel for his character, in the shape of a blossoming new love.

“As it turns out, this is solidly entertaining, if a little scattershot,” said Empire.

“Like the pregnancy-centric Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is an amiable and deeply mellow comedy that takes a situation which really shouldn’t be funny — in this case, heartbreak — and squeezes jokes out of it like juice from a plum.”
